The first of three challenges to determine the ultimate free-standing structure in North America, the CN Tower and Seattle Space Needle met on February 11 in the ultimate Late Night feat of strength: a mud wrestling (well, actually chocolate pudding) match. Although the Needle had a slight advantage in the start, the Tower was able to turn the tables, and promptly pin the Seattle Space Needle in a record 25 seconds for the victory. WINNER: CN Tower via pinfall |

Challenge number two on February 12 featured a test of speed, pitting Seattle versus Toronto in a race from through the Elgin Theatre, from the front doors to the main stage. The Space Needle held the lead through the lobby and into the theatre, and had the victory, until an Canadian Mountie officer in the audience intervened, knocking down the Needle. This gave the CN Tower enough time to capture the victory, and landing the Needle in jail. WINNER: CN Tower in 51 seconds |

The final challenge, on February 13, featured a test of agility...and what better way to test a tower's agility than a limbo contest! The Needle easily cleared the bar, but the CN Tower had more difficulty, collapsing in the process. Conan reluctantly awarded the Needle the win, but after the CN Tower clocked the Needle with a chair, Conan had no choice but to name the CN Tower the winner, completing the sweep of the Needle. WINNER: CN Tower via referee's decision

With the Toronto Blue Jays hosting the Seattle Mariners for a series in July 2004, Conan O'Brien decided to give Jays fans a special treat, while also continuing the long-standing international tower rivalry highlighted on Late Night In Toronto. So, with the FedEx Pope hosting the festivities, the towers were flown to Toronto for a rematch, racing around the SkyDome infield, in the final epic battle, dubbed "The Race To End All Races."
